Diesel Prices, April 20, 2026: The average diesel price worldwide stands at USD 1.57 per liter. There are significant differences in diesel prices across countries. As a general rule, wealthier nations tend to have higher fuel prices, while poorer countries and oil-producing/exporting nations usually maintain significantly lower prices. One notable exception is the United States, an economically advanced country with relatively low gasoline prices.
Price differences between countries are mainly driven by varying diesel taxes and government subsidies. While all countries generally have access to similar crude oil prices on international markets, local fuel taxation policies differ significantly, resulting in substantial variations in retail diesel prices.
In this chart, prices for countries marked with an asterisk (*) are updated weekly. Prices for other countries are updated monthly, as those markets are regulated and fuel prices tend to fluctuate less frequently.
